Are you passionate about the outdoors and eager to lead others through unforgettable wilderness experiences? Join our Tahltan Assistant Hiking Guide Program! This comprehensive program combines our Tahltan Values and the Association of Canadian Hiking Assistant Guide Training and Wilderness First Aid Course to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and certifications needed to assist on multi-day hikes. Upon successful completion, you’ll be eligible to join our team as an assistant guide for exclusive multi-day hikes in August 2026 and future hikes in later years.

Tahltan Assistant Hiking Guide Training: July 10–15, 2026 Location Dease Lake
Wilderness First Aid Course: July 16–19, 2026 Location Dease Lake
Tahltan Youth Hikes take place in August 2026 Locations: Dease Lake,Tanzilla River base camp, Level Mtn. and Mount Edziza
Program Cost: Free, Includes both courses and will get paid a daily honorarium, receive a gear allowance and travel allowance but lodging not provided but tent space available if requested.
You will need: (please see individual posters for each opportunity), but for the Tahltan Assistant Hiking Guide Training: Tahltan Member, age 19+, pass a criminal records check to work with youth, interested in the outdoors. Participants should be in good physical health and possess the mental resilience necessary to safely engage in the activity’s physical and environmental demands. Additionally, individuals working in facilitation or leadership roles must demonstrate a commitment to safety, ethical conduct, and professional integrity.
